March 2018 Eagle's Nest

The Eagle's Nest

March 2018

A note from school leadership

At the end of February, we had our Recognition Assembly. Thank you to all the parents that attended.

Students earned certificates for proficiency in literacy and math, high growth and for exhibiting the Power of 3!

We are so proud of all our students and how much growth they have made so far this year.  We still have a ton of learning to do in the next couple of months. We encourage families to help support students with homework and reading at home each night.

Together, as partners in education, we can make sure our students succeed!

In collaboration,

Ms. Lee Rains Thomas, Principal

Multicultural Night

The week of March 19th, each classroom will engage in a presentation from the Mizel Museum. These presentations will help students learn about cultures from around the world.  In addition, our hallways will be lined with beautiful glass shadow boxes exhibiting different artifacts from around the world.  Then, for an extra special treat, on March 22 we have an exciting Family Night planned.  Please come join us for dinner and fun family activities. Stay tuned for more information about this amazing family night.

CMAS Testing

The Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) is the assessment used across Colorado to measure how students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade are progressing.

CMAS testing starts in the month of March. As we continue to prepare for our students to show everything they have learned so far, families can help at home.

First, it is important that we all encourage our students to persevere and try their best!  It is a lengthy test that involves students showing their work and explaining their thinking.  Make sure students get a good night's sleep and arrive at school on time to get a good breakfast before starting their day.

We will have a special pep rally for students on April 3rd, in addition to a special party after testing for students who attend every day during testing and give their best effort.

Lost and Found

Please come check out our Lost and Found!  We have lots and lots of jackets and sweaters.  We have the items on display and in the cabinet, next to the gym.

The month of March can bring a lot of snow and wet weather so make sure to check out the Lost and Found for any missing items.
