HOLIDAY WISHES 

Time has been flying by and it is hard to believe we are nearing the end of 2018. Students will have a break from December 21st through January 7th. We will see everyone refreshed and recharged in 2019. 

We encourage you to read with your children every day during the break. Go out and have some fun as a family and make sure to limit the amount of TV and video games kids are using over the break. Remember that games have a rating system and many are not appropriate for elementary age children. Make sure you are always aware of what your child is doing online. 

We hope you have a wonderful break with your family. May this season bring hope and joy to your home.

LEARN TO LEAD-JANUARY MS. DILLABAUGH 

Ms. Dillabaugh, Eagleton assistant principal, has been engaged in learning about school leadership this year through the Learn to Lead program. Now it is time for her to practice these skills as the Principal in the month of January. When students return from winter break, Mrs. Rains Thomas will step away from Eagleton for two weeks to allow Ms. Dillabaugh to fully lead Eagleton as the acting principal and learn from that experience. Ms. Dillabaugh is looking forward to this opportunity and connecting with all of you to support our students to become the best that they can be! Ms. Dillabaugh will be the main communication during these 2 weeks and Ms. Rains Thomas will be back on January 22nd. 

BOOK FLIX- AT HOME ACCESS 

We have a subscription to an awesome service called Book Flix, which allows you to access thousands of leveled books in English and Spanish that students can read at home. You can access this service from anywhere online. To establish remote access, please enter the web address below:

DESEOS DE VACACIONES 

El tiempo ha pasado volando y es difícil creer que estamos llegando al final de 2018. Los estudiantes tendrán un descanso desde el 21 de diciembre hasta el 7 de enero. Veremos a todos actualizados y recargados en 2019. 

Le recomendamos que lea con sus hijos todos los días durante las vacaciones. Salga y diviértase en familia y asegúrese de limitar la cantidad de juegos de video y TV que los niños usan durante las vacaciones. Recuerde que los juegos tienen un sistema de calificación y muchos no son apropiados para niños de edad primaria. Asegúrese de estar siempre al tanto de lo que su hijo está haciendo en línea. 

Esperamos que tengan un maravilloso descanso con su familia. Que esta temporada traiga esperanza y alegría a tu hogar.

APRENDER A SER LIDER- ENERO- MS. DILLABAUGH 

La Sra. Dillabaugh, subdirectora de Eagleton, se ha comprometido a aprender sobre el liderazgo escolar este año a través del programa Learn to Lead. Ahora es el momento para que ella practique estas habilidades como Directora en el mes de enero. Cuando los estudiantes regresen de las vacaciones de invierno, la Sra. A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL 

You may have noticed a change in the way we have students entering the building in the morning. We have transitioned to a soft start. That means when then bell rings at 8:25, students begin entering the building and walk themselves to class. We expect students to arrive to class by 8:30. We have staff stationed in the hallways to supervise students as they walk themselves to class. We have noticed students coming in being responsible and respectful as they walk to class. 

We are proud of all our Eagleton students! 

We ask that parents still say goodbye to their children outside or in the cafeteria. We do not want parents to walk students to class. If you want someone to escort your child to class, let us know as we have student helpers who can help get others to class. Let us know if you have any feedback.

FAMILY ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES 

We are excited to offer several family engagement events this month. One of our goals this year is increasing family participation. We have a fun fundraiser at Skate City on Tuesday, 11/6. A Skate City bus leaves from Eagleton at 5:30 and will return to Eagleton around 8:30. The following week we have a fantastic family art night planned with the Denver Art Museum. Art Night is Tuesday, 11/13. Hope you can come for dinner and family fun! 

Our parent and community SPF meeting will be on Thursday, 11/15 before school and after school. The SPF is the School Performance Framework and is essentially the school report card. The SPF parent report is getting sent home in early November. This parent meeting is an opportunity to learn more about how the school is performing and give your input on how to make it even better. 

DAY OF THE DEAD 

We have been selected to participate in the Day of the Dead event at the Denver Botanic Gardens this Saturday, November 3rd from 9-4. We invite you to share photos of your departed loved ones to be placed on an altar set up for the Eagleton community. Please drop off your photos in the office by Friday afternoon. Your photos will be handled very carefully and will be returned to you by Tuesday, November 6th. We hope you join us at the Botanic Gardens to celebrate our loved ones who have passed. 

PICTURE RETAKE DAY 

Picture Retake Day will take place on November 15th from 9 to 11. If your student was absent or you are unsatisfied with your student picture this will be your opportunity to get new pictures. Please make sure to return your picture packet back on this day (11/15) to get new pictures. 

PARENTING PARTNERS

UNA NOTA DE LA DIRECTORA 

Es posible que haya notado un cambio en la forma en que los estudiantes ingresan al edificio por la mañana. Hemos hecho la transición a un comienzo suave. OPORTUNIDADES DE COMPROMISO FAMILIAR 

Estamos muy contentos de ofrecer varios eventos de compromisos familiares este mes. Una de nuestras metas este año es aumentar la participación familiar. Tenemos un divertido evento para recaudar fondos en Skate City el martes 11/6. Un autobús de Skate City saldrá de Eagleton a las 5:30 y regresará a Eagleton alrededor de las 8:30. La semana siguiente tenemos una fantástica noche de arte familiar planeada con el Museo de Arte de Denver. La noche del arte es el martes, 11/13. Esperamos que pueda venir a cenar y divertirse en familia! 

Nuestra reunión de padres y comunidad SPF será el jueves, 11/15 antes de la escuela y después de la escuela. El SPF es el Marco de rendimiento escolar y es esencialmente el informe escolar. El informe de los padres de SPF se enviará a casa a principios de noviembre. Esta reunión de padres es una oportunidad para aprender más sobre el desempeño de la escuela y dar su opinión sobre cómo mejorarlo aún más. 

EL DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS 

Hemos sido seleccionados para participar en el evento del Día de los Muertos en el Jardín Botánico de Denver este sábado, 3 de noviembre de 9-4. Lo invitamos a compartir fotos de sus seres queridos difuntos para colocarlos en un altar establecido para la comunidad de Eagleton. Por favor, deje sus fotos en la oficina el viernes por la tarde. Sus fotos se manejarán con mucho cuidado y se le devolverán el martes 6 de noviembre. Esperamos que se una a nosotros en el Jardín Botánico para celebrar a nuestros seres queridos que han fallecido. 

RETOMA DE FOTOS 

El Día de Retoma de Fotos se llevará a cabo del 15 de noviembre de 9 a 11. Si su estudiante estuvo ausente o no está satisfecho con su foto de estudiante, esta será su oportunidad de obtener nuevas fotos. Por favor, asegúrese de devolver su paquete de fotos en este día (15/11) para obtener nuevas fotos.

A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL 

Fall has arrived and before we know it, it will be chilly outside and the snow will start to fall. Since we are a uniform school, it is important to think about how to best help your child get dressed for cold days. 

Here are some friendly reminders: 

· We try and go outside for recess as much as we can so make sure your child has a warm coat they can wear. Let us know if you need help with getting a coat. 

· The Eagleton logo on the uniform t-shirt must be visible during the school day. Students should either have on an Eagleton sweatshirt or zip-up or open their own coats and jackets in order to have the uniform logo visible while in school. 

· Please label coats with student name. It makes it easier to find in the Lost and Found. 

· Lost and Found is located near the gym doors. As a school we try and help students remember their coats and find items if they get lost, but it is not our responsibility if something gets lost.

FALL CARNIVAL 

Tonight, October 4th, we have our 2nd annual carnival. Join us for a fun family time. Although we are having this event as a fundraiser, we have decided to make it donation based, rather than a set fee. We will be selling tickets for food (popcorn, nachos and snow cones). We hope you can come join us for some family fun for a good cause. Please note, if the weather turns bad, we will have the carnival in the gym. 

See you from 4:00-6:30 tonight! 

PARENT/ TEACHER CONFERENCES 

We are looking forward to Fall conferences in just a couple of weeks. Teachers will be setting up conferences on October 17th and 18th after school. Be on the lookout for specific information about your child's conferences soon. Fall conferences are a great opportunity to connect with your child's teacher and learn about how things are going in school. Since we have been in school for just a couple of months, we have beginning of the year achievement levels to share with you. We have lots to learn this year and with your support, we know every child can reach their goals. 

READING AT HOME 

Reading at home is an important part of homework for all students at Eagleton. Reading can and will look very different depending on the grade level. Here are some ideas on how to encourage reading at home 

· Designate a comfy spot at home and set a timer 

· Have your child pick a book and have them read it aloud to you 

· Read aloud to your child and then talk about what happened in the story 

· Read a book together and then make up an alternate ending to the story 

 

-K-1st grade should read 10 min every night 

-2nd grade – 20 min every night 

-3rd grade – 25 min every night 

-4th grade - 30 min every night 

-5th grade – 35 min every night

UNA NOTA DE LA DIRECTORA 

El otoño ha llegado y antes de que nos demos cuenta, hará frío afuera y la nieve comenzará a caer. Ya que somos una escuela de uniformes, es importante pensar en la mejor manera de ayudar a su hijo a vestirse para los días fríos. 

Aquí hay algunos recordatorios: 

• Intentamos salir al recreo tanto como podamos por favor asegurarnos de que su hijo tenga un abrigo que pueda usar. Háganos saber si necesita ayuda para conseguir un abrigo. 

• El logo de Eagleton en la camiseta del uniforme debe ser visible durante el día escolar. Los estudiantes deben usar una sudadera Eagleton o su propias sudaderas o chaquetas siempre y cuando el logo del uniforme sea visible mientras están en la escuela. 

• Etiquete tus abrigos con el nombre del estudiante. Lo hace más fácil de encontrar en lo perdido y lo encontrado. 

• Lo perdido y lo encontrado está ubicado cerca de las puertas del gimnasio. Como escuela, tratamos de ayudar a los estudiantes a recordar sus abrigos y buscamos cosas perdidas, pero no es nuestra responsabilidad si algo se pierde.

CARNAVAL DE OTOÑO 

Esta noche, 4 de octubre, será nuestro segundo año de nuestro Carnaval del Otoño. Únase a nosotros para pasar un rato divertido en familia. Estamos teniendo este evento para recaudar fondos, hemos decidido que sea a base de donaciones, en lugar de una tarifa fija. Estaremos vendiendo boletos para comida (palomitas de maíz, nachos y conos de nieve). Esperamos que pueda unirse a nosotros para divertirse en familia por una buena causa. Tenga en cuenta que si el clima se pone malo, tendremos el carnaval en el gimnasio. 

¡Nos vemos de 4:00-6:30 esta noche! 

CONFERENCIAS DE PADRES Y MAESTROS 

Esperamos con interés las conferencias de otoño en tan solo un par de semanas. Los maestros organizarán conferencias el 17 y 18 de octubre después de la escuela. Esté atento para más información específica sobre las conferencias de su hijo muy pronto. Las conferencias de otoño son una gran oportunidad para conectarse con el maestro de su hijo y aprender cómo van las cosas en la escuela. Ya que hemos estado en la escuela solo por un par de meses, tenemos niveles de logros de principio de año para compartir con ustedes. Tenemos mucho que aprender este año y con su apoyo, sabemos que todos los niños podrán alcanzar sus metas. 

LEYENDO EN CASA 

Leer en casa es una parte importante de la tarea para todos los alumnos en Eagleton. La lectura puede y se verá muy diferente dependiendo del nivel de grado. Aquí hay algunas ideas sobre cómo fomentar la lectura en casa.

The Incredible POWER of 3

It is hard to believe it is already September and school is in full swing.  All throughout Eagleton we have been busy learning about how we can live the power of 3.  The power of 3 is something we do wherever we go. 

                Take care of self

                Take care of others

                Take care of the environment

Talk to your kids about the power of 3 and consider implementing it at your house.  One important aspect of the power of 3 is that they are responsibilities, not rules.  We believe when we take responsibility for our actions, we are better problem solvers and understand that the actions we take have an impact on ourselves, others and the environment.

Security at drop off and dismissal

In order to improve security for our students and staff.  Starting next week, parents and visitors will not be allowed to enter the building with their children in the morning.  We ask that parents say goodbye to their children at the door. 

We want to ensure our students are safe here at school and that we know when any visitors are in the school. For that reason, if you need to come into the school for any reason, you will need to use the front door and sign in as a visitor. 

For dismissal, you will need to wait outside until the 3:30 bell rings to pick up your children. We all need to work together to make sure this is a secure school.  Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Parent and Teacher Home Visit Project

We are proud to partner with the DPS and national home visit project.  Getting to know our families and students in their own home is a special way to make home and school connections.  Teachers are setting up home visits this month and we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to connect.  If you would rather meet at a library or park, just let your child's teacher know.  We love all our families and know we are stronger when we work together!

Learn to Lead- Mrs. Dillabaugh

A new school year brings the thrill and excitement of new learning and new experiences for our students.  As the Assistant Principal at Eagleton for 5 years now, this year, I am excited to share that I will be taking on a new role as Principal Resident.  As a Principal Resident I will be learning from Mrs. Rains Thomas about the intricacies of being a school principal.  To that end, in the month of January, Mrs. Rains Thomas will step away from Eagleton for two weeks to allow me to fully lead Eagleton and learn from that experience.  I love to learn new things and being around our Eagleton students each and every day is a wonderful gift. This year I will continue to serve as the Assistant Principal as well as learn and grow about the next step in my career.  I look forward to connecting with all of you this year and supporting our students to become the best that they can be!

El increíble poder de 3

Es difícil creer que ya es septiembre y la escuela está en pleno apogeo. A lo largo de Eagleton hemos estado ocupados aprendiendo sobre cómo podemos vivir el poder de 3. El poder de 3 es algo que hacemos a donde sea que vayamos.

Habla con tus hijos sobre el poder de 3 y considera implementarlo en tu casa. Un aspecto importante del poder de 3 es que son responsabilidades, no reglas. Creemos que cuando asumimos la responsabilidad de nuestras acciones, somos mejores solucionadores de problemas y entendemos que las acciones que tomamos tienen un impacto en nosotros mismos, los demás y el medio ambiente.

Seguridad al descender y el despedido

        Para mejorar la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes y personal. A partir de la próxima semana, los padres y visitantes no podrán ingresar al edificio con sus hijos por la mañana. Les pedimos a los padres que se despidan de sus hijos en la puerta.

                    Queremos asegurarnos de que nuestros estudiantes estén seguros aquí en la escuela y que sepamos cuándo hay visitas en la escuela. Por esa razón, si necesita ingresar a la escuela por alguna razón, deberá usar la puerta de entrada e iniciar sesión como visitante.

Para la salida, tendrá que esperar afuera hasta que suene la campana de las 3:30 para recoger a sus hijos. Todos debemos trabajar juntos para asegurarnos de que sea una escuela segura. Gracias por su cooperación y comprensión.

 

El proyecto de visitar a la casa

Nos enorgullece asociarnos con DPS y el proyecto nacional de visitas domiciliarias. Conocer a nuestras familias y estudiantes en su propio hogar es una forma especial de hacer conexiones entre el hogar y la escuela. Los maestros están estableciendo visitas a domicilio este mes y lo alentamos a que aproveche esta oportunidad para conectarse. Si prefiere reunirse en una biblioteca o parque, solo informe al maestro de su hijo. ¡Amamos a todas nuestras familias y sabemos que somos más fuertes cuando trabajamos juntos!

Aprendiendo a liderasgo- Mrs. Dillabaugh

Un nuevo año escolar trae la emoción de nuevos aprendizajes y nuevas experiencias para nuestros estudiantes. Como Subdirector de Eagleton durante los últimos 5 años, este año, estoy emocionado de compartir que asumiré un nuevo rol como Directora en Residente. Como directora en residente estaré aprendiendo de la Sra. Rains Thomas sobre las complejidades de ser directora de una escuela. Con ese fin, en el mes de enero, la Sra. Rains Thomas se alejará de Eagleton durante dos semanas para permitirme dirigir por completo a Eagleton y aprender de esa experiencia. Me encanta aprender cosas nuevas y estar con nuestros estudiantes de Eagleton todos los días es un regalo maravilloso. Este año continuaré sirviendo como subdirector, así como aprenderé y creceré sobre el siguiente paso en mi carrera. ¡Espero conectarme con todos ustedes este año y apoyar a nuestros estudiantes para que se conviertan en lo mejor que puedan ser!

What an amazing year this has been!  It is hard to believe we are nearing the end of the year.  We are so proud of all the hard work our students have done this year!  Thank you for your partnership and collaboration to make this a fantastic year of learning. 

This summer is a time to take a break and relax, but make sure to set up a routine to read every day.  Our kids work so hard during the school year- it is important that they continue practicing their skills over the summer.  Go to the library, visit parks and read together this summer.  Keep the learning going all summer long!

                We are offering summer programs at Eagleton and encourage you to sign your child up if they received an invitation.   If you need more information, please give the main office a call at (720)424-7930.

Bike to School Day     

May 9^th is national bike and walk to school day.  Eagleton has signed up to participate and we are encouraging everyone to participate.  We will have prizes and incentives for all students who bike or walk to school on the 9^th.  Let's take advantage of this opportunity to find safe routes to school and reduce traffic around the school.  Let us know if you want to help be a greeter that morning- we want to make it special! 

 

 

 

 

Family Night @ Skate City

Come to Eagleton and ride the bus to Skate City for a super fun family night on May 10^th.  The bus leaves Eagleton at 5:30 and adults are required to attend with students. You can also drive on your own if you prefer.  The cost for rentals and skating is $5.00 and Eagleton earns half the money. We hope you can join us for this fun event. 

                        

                  Talent Show

                       and Science Fair

Join is for a fun evening of talent on May 22^nd!  We have about 15 student acts and possibly some surprise staff acts to share with you at the talent show.  We are also hosting our first science fair on the same night.  We hope you can join us at 5:30 for the show on the 22^nd! 

Field Day   

Field day is a special day that we are all looking forward to on May 25^th!  Remember that field day is a privilege that students must earn with good behavior.  Each month this school year we have had celebrations for all students who earned 90% or higher on Class Dojo.  Any students who are at risk of missing field day will be informed at least 2 weeks in advance in order to have an opportunity to earn more positive points.  If a student receives a discipline referral in the month of May they will miss at least 2 activities of field day if not all of the activities.  Remember NO OTHER SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN are allowed to be on Eagleton property for field day- it is a regular day of school in DPS.

¡Qué año tan asombroso ha sido este ano! Es difícil creer que estemos llegando al final del año escolar. ¡Estamos muy orgullosos de todo el trabajo duro que nuestros estudiantes han hecho este año! Gracias por su asociación y colaboración para hacer de este un año fantástico de aprendizaje.          
               Este verano es un momento para tomar un descanso y relajarse, pero asegúrese de establecer una rutina para leer todos los días. Nuestros hijos trabajan arduamente durante el año escolar; es importante que continúen practicando sus habilidades durante el verano. Vayan a la biblioteca, visiten parques y lean juntos este verano. ¡Mantengan el aprendizaje durante todo el verano!
               Estamos ofreciendo programas de verano en Eagleton y alentamos a que firme la inscripción de su hijo si recibió una invitación. Si necesita más información, llame a la oficina al (720) 424-7930.

Ven a La Escuela En Bicicleta

                El 9 de mayo es el día nacional escolar de ir a la escuela en una bicicleta o caminar hacia la escuela. Eagleton se ha registrado para participar y estamos alentando a todos a participar. Tendremos premios e incentivos para todos los estudiantes que vengan en bicicleta o caminen a la escuela el día 9. Aprovechemos esta oportunidad para encontrar rutas seguras a la escuela y reducir el tráfico alrededor de la escuela. Háganos saber si desea ser un portero para ayudar          a darles la bienvenida a todos los estudiantes esa mañana. ¡Queremos que sea especial!

 

 

 

Noche Familiar en Skate City          

            Venga a Eagleton y tome el autobús a Skate City para una noche familiar súper divertida el 10 de mayo. El autobús sale de Eagleton a las 5:30 y se requiere que los adultos asistan con los estudiantes. También puede conducir por su cuenta si lo prefiere. El costo de alquiler y patinaje es de

$5.00 y Eagleton gana la mitad del dinero. Esperamos que pueda unirse a nosotros para este divertido evento.              

Espectáculo de Talento y

                        la Feria de Ciencia

                    ¡Únanse para una noche divertida de talento el 22 de mayo! Tenemos alrededor de 15 actos estudiantiles y posiblemente algunos actos sorpresa del personal para compartir con usted en el concurso de talentos. También estamos organizando nuestra primera feria de ciencias en la misma noche. ¡Esperamos que pueda unirse a nosotros a las 5:30 para el espectáculo del día 22!

 

Día De Campo

                ¡El día de campo es un día especial que todos esperamos el 25 de mayo! Recuerde que el día de campo es un privilegio que los estudiantes deben ganar con buen comportamiento. Cada mes de este año escolar hemos tenido celebraciones para todos los estudiantes que obtuvieron un 90% o más en Class Dojo. Cualquier estudiante que esté en riesgo de perder el día de campo será informado con al menos 2 semanas de anticipación para tener la oportunidad de obtener más puntos positivos. Si un estudiante recibe una referencia de disciplina en el mes de mayo, se perderá al menos 2 actividades del día de campo si no todas las actividades. Recuerde que NINGUNA OTRA EDAD ESCOLAR DE LOS NIÑOS tiene permitido estar en la propiedad de Eagleton para el día de campo; es un día normal de escuela en DPS.
