A NOTE FROM SCHOOL LEADERSHIP
We hope you had a nice break and were able to spend time with friends and family!
For the first two weeks of January, I will be completing my "Acting Principal" experience here at Eagleton. Mrs. Rains Thomas is gone for these two weeks. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. My door is open.
This month is our Eagleton Anti-Bullying Month! Each classroom will be learning more about how to be an upstander and stop bullying. At Eagleton, we are committed to helping students learn empathy in order to support each other and maintain healthy relationships.

PENNIES FOR PATIENTS
Time to clean out your couches and find your loose change. It is time for our annual Pennies for Patients fundraiser to support children with cancer. The drive runs from 1/11 through 1/31. Each classroom has a collection box. The class with the most donations will get a pasta party from The Olive Garden. We hope you can contribute some small amount to help research efforts to end childhood cancer.
CHOICE PROCESS
School choice time is upon us for the 2019-20 school year. This year the window will open on Tuesday, January 15th at midnight and will close on Friday, February 15th at 4 pm. If Eagleton is your neighborhood school, based on your address, you do not need to do anything for school choice. If you are enrolling an ECE or Kindergarten student for next year, you MUST submit a School Choice form. In addition, students currently K-5 that have choice in to Eagleton this year and have moved or have administratively transferred MUST submit a School Choice form. Forms are available in the main office and at schoolchoice.dpsk12.org. Thank you for choosing Eagleton! We are glad to have your children here with us.
MIDDLE SCHOOL EXPO
We are currently working on setting up a Middle School Expo here at Eagleton. We are trying to have middle schools come and talk to our parents on what they have to offer for our families towards the end of this month or the beginning of February. We had a great turn out last year with about 10 middle schools who came to speak to our families and we hope to do have the same this year. If you happen to have a 5th, grader keep an eye out for more information to come.
COLD WEATHER CLOTHING
With the weather getting colder, we want to remind you of our dress code. School uniforms are required every day in warm weather and cold. We sell long sleeves and sweatshirts in the office. We have a limited supply of uniforms on hand; otherwise, we order them and receive them quickly. Students may wear other sweaters, but they must unzip or unbutton so that the school uniform is visible during school. Of course, students should wear jackets and coats outside whenever it is cold, but inside the school, uniform shirts must be visible.
ACCESS - JANUARY
ACCESS testing begins January 14th. Our English Language learners will take ACCESS- a required Colorado state assessment that measures English language development. This year the assessment is online for 1st-5th grade. It is important that your child be here at school on time everyday so that they do not miss any testing sessions. Let us know if you have any questions.

UNA NOTA DE LIDERAZGO ESCOLAR
¡Esperamos que haya tenido un buen descanso y haya podido pasar tiempo con amigos y familiares!
Durante las primeras dos semanas de enero, estaré completando mi experiencia de "Directora en funciones" aquí en Eagleton. La señora Rains Thomas estará fuera por estas dos semanas. Si tiene alguna pregunta, no dude en preguntar. Mi puerta está abierta
¡Este mes es nuestro mes contra el acoso escolar en Eagleton! Cada salón de clase aprenderá más sobre cómo ser un promotor y detener el acoso escolar. En Eagleton, estamos comprometidos a ayudar a los estudiantes a aprender la empatía para apoyarse mutuamente y mantener relaciones saludables.

PENNIES PARA PACIENTES (PENNIES FOR PATIENTS)
Es hora de limpiar sus sofás y encontrar su cambio suelto. Es tiempo de nuestra recaudación de fondos anual de Pennies for Patients la cual brinda apoyo a niños con cáncer. La recaudación se llevará acabo del 17/1 hasta 31/1. Cada salón tiene una caja de colección. La clase con más donaciones recibirá una fiesta de pasta de Olive Garden. Esperamos que pueda contribuir con una pequeña cantidad para ayudar a los esfuerzos de investigación para acabar con el cáncer infantil.
ESCOJO MI ESCUELA
El tiempo de Escojo Mi Escuela está sobre nosotros para el año escolar 2019-20. Este año, la ventana se abrirá el martes 15 de enero a la medianoche y se cerrará el viernes 15 de febrero a las 4 pm. Si Eagleton es la escuela de su vecindario, según su dirección, no necesita hacer nada por la elección de la escuela. Si está inscribiendo a un estudiante de ECE o Kindergarten para el próximo año, DEBE presentar un formulario de EscojoMiEscuela. Además, los estudiantes que actualmente se encuentran en K-5 y que han elegido a Eagleton este año por este medio o se han mudado o se han transferido administrativamente DEBEN presentar un formulario de EscojoMiEscuela. Los formularios están disponibles en la oficina principal y en schoolchoice.dpsk12.org. ¡Gracias por elegir a Eagleton! Estamos contentos de tener a sus hijos aquí con nosotros.
EXPOSICIÓN DE ESCUELAS SECUNDARIAS
Actualmente estamos trabajando para llevar a cabo una Exposición de escuelas secundarias aquí en Eagleton. Estamos tratando de que las escuelas intermedias vengan y hablen con nuestros padres sobre lo que tienen para ofrecer a nuestras familias. Pensamos tener este evento a fines de este mes o principios de febrero. Tuvimos una gran asistencia el año pasado con aproximadamente 10 escuelas intermedias que vinieron a hablar con nuestras familias y esperamos tener lo mismo este año. Si usted tiene un estudiante de 5to grado, esté al pendiente para más información más adelante.
ROPA PARA EL CLIMA FRIO
Con el clima cada vez más frío, queremos recordarle nuestro código de vestimenta. Los uniformes escolares son necesarios todos los días en clima cálido y frío. Vendemos camisas con mangas largas y sudaderas en la oficina. Tenemos una oferta limitada de uniformes a mano, de lo contrario los podemos ordenar y los recibiríamos rápidamente. Los estudiantes pueden usar otros suéteres, pero deben de abrir o desabotonar para que el uniforme escolar sea visible durante la escuela. Por supuesto, los estudiantes deben usar chaquetas y abrigos afuera cuando hace frío, pero dentro de la escuela, las camisas de uniforme deben ser visibles.
EXÁMENES DE ACCESS - ENERO
Las pruebas de ACCESS comienzan el 14 de enero. Nuestros estudiantes del idioma inglés tomarán ACCESS, una evaluación requerida del estado de Colorado que mide el desarrollo del idioma inglés. Este año la evaluación está en línea para los grados 1º a 5º. Es importante que su hijo llegue a la escuela a tiempo todos los días para que no se pierda ninguna sesión de evaluación. Háganos saber si tiene alguna pregunta.
