Building a Growth Mindset

This year we are excited to continue our focus on developing a growth mindset in our students- in other words helping them believe in themselves.  We encourage our students to take risks and try their best in all they do.  When we give students feedback, we make sure to say things like- "I can tell you worked really hard" or "You used perseverance to solve that problem- it was hard for you, and you figured it out".   By crafting our messages to focus on effort and hard work, we are helping students understand that skills are developed through practice.  You can help at home too!  Ask your children- What did you learn today? What mistake did you make that taught you something? What did you try hard at today?

If parents want to give their children a gift, the best thing they can do is to teach their children to love challenges, be intrigued by mistakes, enjoy effort, and keep on learning. They will have a lifelong way to build and repair their own confidence. – Carol Dweck

Uniform Eagleton Shirts

We are requiring all Eagleton students to wear Eagleton uniform shirts this year.  We sell them in the office, as low as $6 per shirt.  We expect ALL students to have uniform shirt on every day.  Students may not cover up their uniform- the logo must be visible while at school.  Please speak with someone in the office if you need assistance with purchasing uniforms.

Get Involved, Help us grow!

We have multiple opportunities for parents to get involved this year and we encourage you to take advantage of them!  We need your help as partners in education to ensure we are the best school we can be. 

Collaborative School Committee (CSC)- We had 13 interested parents and we asked the Eagleton community to select 3.  Parents voted and they selected the following parents:  Juliana Enriquez, Cordy McGowan, Amalia Acosta Morones.  We will have a meeting in mid- October.  It was a tough choice and we are glad to say we have more leadership opportunities for parents. J

Parent Advisory Committee (PAC)- Join us for our first meeting of the year on October 13^th at 8:00am in the cafeteria.  We hope that parents who weren't selected for CSC can join us to help us make this committee strong.  We are going to review our assessment results, talk about parent involvement and have time for questions and answers.  Everyone is welcome.  We will have breakfast and child care.

Superintendent Forums- Another way to get involved at the district level is to join the Superintendent forums. The next one is in November- stay tuned.

Halloween Parade

We will have a costume parade on Halloween, Monday, 10/31 at 2:30.  Students must wear regular school clothes, including a school uniform until it is time for the parade.  For the parade, students will be allowed to put on a simplified costume at 2:15.  There will be no masks of any kind allowed and no face make up.  Additionally, no clown costumes will be allowed this year. This may mean that a costume is not complete at school.  Students will need to put their costume over their clothes for the school parade.  There will be an alternate activity for students who don't want to participate.

Construyendo una mentalidad llena de crecimiento

Este año estamos contentos de continuar nuestro enfoque en el desarrollo de una mentalidad de crecimiento en nuestros estudiantes-en otras palabras, ayudarles a creer en sí mismos. Animamos a nuestros estudiantes a tomar riesgos y hacer su mejor esfuerzo en todo lo que hacen. Cuando damos a los estudiantes retroalimentación, nos aseguramos de que decir las cosas como-"Puedo ver que has  trabajado muy duro" o "Utilizaste perseverancia para resolver ese problema- era difícil para ti, pero lo resolviste". Por la elaboración de nuestros mensajes para centrarse en el esfuerzo y el trabajo duro, estamos ayudando a los estudiantes a entender que las habilidades se desarrollan a través de la práctica. Usted puede ayudar en casa también! Pregúnteles a sus niños- ¿Qué aprendiste hoy? ¿Qué error hiciste que te ha enseñado algo? ¿En que pusiste todo tu empeño?

 

Si los padres quieren dar a sus hijos un regalo, lo mejor que pueden hacer es enseñar a sus hijos a amar retos, ser intrigados por errores, disfrutar de lo posible, y seguir aprendiendo. De esta forma ellos tendrán una manera permanente para construir y reparar su propia confianza. - Carol Dweck

Camisetas de Uniforme

Estamos requiriendo que todos los estudiantes de Eagleton lleven puesto su uniforme (camisas) de Eagleton este año. Estas camisas se venderán en la oficina a un precio tan bajo como $ 6 por camisa. Esperamos que todos los estudiantes tengan la camisa del uniforme todos los días. Los estudiantes no pueden ocultar el logotipo del uniforme, este debe ser visible durante  la escuela. Involúcrese, ayúdenos a crecer

Comité Escolar de Colaboración (CSC) - Tuvimos 13 padres interesados ​​y le preguntamos a la comunidad Eagleton que seleccionar a 3. Desfile de Halloween

Tendremos un desfile de disfraces el día de Halloween el lunes 10/31 a las 2:30. Los estudiantes deben llevar ropa normal, incluyendo un uniforme de la escuela hasta que sea tiempo para el desfile. Para el desfile, se permitirá a los estudiantes a ponerse un traje simplificado a las 2:15. No habrá ningún tipo de máscaras permitido y no se permitirá maquillaje. Además, no se permitirán trajes de payasos  este año. Esto puede significar que un traje no esté completo en la escuela. Los estudiantes tendrán que ponerse su traje sobre la ropa para el desfile de la escuela. Habrá otra actividad para niños que no quieran o no pueden participar.

Welcome Back     Eagleton Families

Welcome to all the new families joining us this year and welcome back to our returning students.  We hope you had a great summer and are ready to learn!  You may notice that we have new lights throughout the school and our school looks bright and clean.  We worked hard this summer to make sure our building was ready for our super kids to return.  We are looking forward to a fantastic year! 

Our school day begins at 8:00 and we serve a healthy breakfast to every child in class.   We know that without a good breakfast, our brains are not ready to learn.  Please make sure your child arrives on time every day. 

We have daily morning meetings in every classroom where we build a strong community and learn about our character strengths: respect, joy, integrity, perseverance, gratitude and optimism.  We have weekly grade level community meetings each Friday.  At those meetings we discuss important Eagleton expectations and help students get to know one another.  Building a strong community of learners, educators and families is important at Eagleton.

Uniform Eagleton Shirts

We are requiring all students in ECE- 5^th grade wear Eagleton uniform shirts this year.  We sell them in the office, as low as $6 per shirt.  We expect ALL students to have uniform shirt on every day.  Please speak with someone in the office if you need assistance with purchasing uniform shirts. 

Visitors during school day

We are a secure school and your child's safety is most important to us.  If you need to come into the school during the day you will need to press the door buzzer.  All visitors are required to check in at the main office. Soon, we will be able to open the cafeteria for parents visits once a week.

Enrichment Wednesdays

Every Wednesday afternoon, beginning on 9/7, we will have enrichment clubs for all students.   Our regular classes will end at 1:30 and we will keep all students here engaged in enrichment activities until 3:30.  We will use enrichment Wednesdays time for teacher collaboration, planning and professional development.   We will have community partners like the Denver Zoo, Colorado Ballet, Excel Energy, Colorado Mountain Club and more programed each week. 

Food Service Information

We offer a free and healthy breakfast to all students each morning in classrooms.   Please encourage your children to take advantage of this opportunity. 

For lunch, students select fresh fruits and vegetables from a salad bar in addition to selecting a homemade nutritious entree.  Additionally students get a snack of fresh fruits or vegetables daily.  We not only want our students to learn at Eagleton, but we want them to create healthy habits.  Hot Cheetohs, Takis and other hot chips are not allowed in the cafeteria unless they are part of a complete lunch from home.  We do not allow any type of soda pop or fast food.

Please make sure you have filled out and turned in your free and reduced lunch application.  Even if you don't think you qualify, we need you to complete the paperwork.  The more submissions we have, the more accurate our student data is.

Welcome Back     Eagleton Families

Bienvenido a todas las nuevas familias se unan a nosotros este año y la bienvenida de nuevo a nuestros estudiantes que regresan. Esperamos que hayan tenido un gran verano y está listo para aprender! Usted puede notar que tenemos nuevas luces en toda la escuela y nuestra escuela se ve brillante y limpio. Hemos trabajado duro este verano para asegurarse de que nuestro edificio estaba listo para nuestros alumnos.

Nuestro día escolar comienza a las 8:00 y se sirve un desayuno saludable para todos los niños de la clase. Sabemos que sin un buen desayuno, nuestros cerebros no están listos para aprender. Por favor asegúrese de que su hijo llegue a tiempo cada día. Tenemos reuniones diarias por la mañana en todas las aulas, donde construimos una comunidad fuerte y aprendemos acerca de nuestras fortalezas de carácter: el respeto, la alegría, la integridad, la perseverancia, la gratitud y optimismo. Wrapping up the school year

As this year wraps up, we have lots going on here at Eagleton. Make sure to look below at important dates to keep up with everything going on this Spring. We have lots of fun things planned for our students.

Field day is coming up at the end of May, on the 26^th!  Field day is a fun day that students will earn by showing SOAR behaviors throughout the school.  We will not allow students to participate if they receive an office referral during the month of May.  Please remember we do not allow any school age visitors on this day.  We welcome parents to come share this fun day with your child, but will not allow any school age students as visitors.  It is a normal school day for DPS and it is not appropriate for students to be pulled out of class to attend the Eagleton field day.  Come talk to us in the office if you have any questions.

Check out our Eagleton app for phones!  We have an awesome app that has all kinds of info that you need to know: lunch menus, Eagle's Nests, the school schedule and more.  We send out notifications about special events and happenings.   We will be selecting 2 raffle winners of people who have the app from our business sponsors: Safeway and El Rancherito. Lost and Found Items

Please come check out our lost and found!  We have lots and lots of jackets and sweaters.  We have the items on display and in the cabinet next to the gym.     We will donate any items left at the end of the year.

Uniform Shirts for 2016-17

We are adopting Eagleton uniform shirts for next year.  The shirts will come in 6 bright colors with our Eagleton logo.  Shirt options will cost between $6.50-$10.00, depending on the style.  Package deals and early orders will be available to order in the office.  All Eagleton shirts and sweatshirts from past years would be allowed also.  We are going to look awesome next year! 

Wednesday Changes for 2016-17

For the past couple years we have had early release on Wednesdays.  We are excited to share that next year we will be changing our Wednesdays to be enrichment time for all students.  Teachers will still have time on Wednesday afternoons for planning and collaboration, but all students will stay until 3:30 on Wednesdays.  We will have community partners come in to work with our students for reading tutoring, physical activity, arts, science and more. Let us know if you have ideas for fun Wednesday activities or are interested in helping out.

Parent Satisfaction Survey

Thank you for taking a moment to fill out the parent satisfaction survey this April.  We value your feedback and will use it to make this school even better.  We had many students return the raffle form and randomly selected a winner.  Tony V. in 1^st grade won a brand new bike and helmet!  Congrats!

Al concluir el año, tenemos mucho que hacer aquí, en Eagleton. Asegúrese de buscar a continuación, en fechas importantes, la información para mantenerse al día con todo lo que sucede en esta primavera. Tenemos muchas cosas divertidas planeadas para nuestros estudiantes.

 

¡El día de juegos se acerca al final de Mayo, el día 26! El Día de juegos es un día de diversión que los estudiantes obtendrán al mostrar comportamientos SOAR en toda la escuela. No vamos a permitir que los estudiantes participen si reciben una referencia a la oficina durante el mes de Mayo. Por favor, recuerde que nosotros no permitimos otros  visitantes  en edad escolar en este día. Damos la bienvenida a los padres que vienen a compartir de este divertido día con su hijo, pero no vamos a permitir ningún estudiante en edad escolar como visitante. Es un día escolar normal para DPS y no es apropiado que los estudiantes que no se le permitió participar asistan al día de campo en Eagleton. Pase por la oficina si tiene alguna pregunta.

¡Por favor, ven y visita nuestra sección de perdido y encontrado! Tenemos muchísimas chaquetas y suéteres. Tenemos los artículos en gachos y en el armario al lado del gimnasio. Vamos a donar cualquier artículo que no sea reclamado al final del año.

Camisas para uniformes para el 2016-17

Estamos adoptando camisas para uniformes  Eagleton para el próximo año. Las camisas vienen en 6 colores brillantes con nuestro logotipo Eagleton. Las opciones de las camisas costarán entre $ 6.50- $ 10.00, dependiendo del estilo. Hay paquetes de ofertas y pedidos por adelantado que  estarán disponibles para ordenar en la oficina. Todas las camisas y sudaderas Eagleton de años anteriores se les permitirá también. ¡Nos veremos increíble el año que viene!

 

Cambios por los miercoles en el 2016-17

En los últimos dos años hemos tenido salida temprana los miércoles. Estamos muy contentos de compartir que el próximo año vamos a cambiar nuestros miércoles por  hora de enriquecimiento para todos los estudiantes. Los maestros todavía tendrán tiempo los miércoles por la tarde para la planificación y la colaboración, pero todos los estudiantes permanecerán hasta las 3:30 los miércoles. Tendremos socios de la comunidad vienen a trabajar con nuestros estudiantes en  tutorías de lectura, la actividad física, las artes, la ciencia y más. Háganos saber si usted tiene ideas para actividades divertidas  los miércoles o está interesado en ayudar.

 

 

ENCUESTA DE SATISFACSIÓN DE LOS PADRES

Gracias por tomar un momento para llenar la encuesta de satisfacción de los padres este abril. Valoramos sus comentarios y utilizaremos la información para hacer esta escuela aún mejor. Springtime Dress Code

It is hard to believe it is already April.  We hope you had a restful and fun Spring break with your families.  We are looking forward to a spring full of learning. 

As the weather warms up, please remember that Colorado weather changes frequently.  During the spring, make sure your child comes to school with a sweater and brings it home each night.  We have a lot of sweaters in the lost and found.  Come check it out if your child is missing something. 

I also want to take this opportunity to remind everyone about the dress code expectations.  No flip flop sandals are allowed.  Shirts must have sleeves wider than two fingers (no spaghetti straps).  Shorts and skirts must be as long as the child’s arms when straight down.  No halter tops or tops that show stomach or back areas.  We will call parents for a change of clothes if a student is wearing any type of inappropriate clothing.

We sent home over 150 individual invitations to READ/ELA summer school.  We have gotten about 70 back.   Please talk to the office if you need another application or if you didn’t get one the first time around.  The program will run at Eagleton from June 13-July 8 from 7:45-11:45 am, with an option for a full day program.  Let us know if you have any questions.  We hope you take advantage of this opportunity!

Bugs, Books and Art- April 14^th

Come join us for an incredible family night of Bugs, Books and Art!  We will have pizza and fun activities for the whole family.  Bring the family for fun with bugs!

Shirt Uniforms for 2016-17

We are considering adopting Eagleton shirt uniforms for next year.  We are looking at options for multiple colors of shirts with our Eagleton logo.  Shirt options would be priced between $6.00-$10.00.  Package deals and early orders would be available.  All Eagleton shirts and sweatshirts from past years would be allowed also.  We have met with several groups of staff, students and parents and everyone we have talked to wants to adopt uniform shirts next year.  Let us know by April 14^th if you have any feedback about this change.  

Wednesday Changes for 2016-17

For the past couple years we have had early release on Wednesdays.  We are excited to share that next year we will be changing our Wednesdays to be enrichment time for all students.  Teachers will still have time on Wednesday afternoons for planning and collaboration, but all students will stay until 3:30 on Wednesdays. 

We will have community partners come in to work with our students for reading tutoring, physical activity, arts, science and more.  We will have special assemblies with partners like the Zoo and Denver Museum of Nature and Science.  This will be a great opportunity to give students extra time with skills they need as well as time to explore things we don’t have enough time for.  Let us know if you have ideas for fun Wednesday activities or are interested in helping out.  We want our Wednesday afternoons to be an opportunity to really involve the school community as partners in education.

Código de Vestir de Primavera

Es difícil de creer que ya es abril. Esperamos que hayan tenido un descanso y la diversión de primavera con sus familias. Estamos mirando adelante a una primavera llena de aprendizaje.

A medida que el clima se calienta, por favor recuerde que Colorado clima cambia con frecuencia . Durante la primavera, asegúrese de que su hijo llega a la escuela con un suéter y se lo lleva a casa cada noche. Tenemos una gran cantidad de suéteres en el perdido y encontrado. Ven echa un vistazo si su hijo le falta algo.

También quiero aprovechar esta oportunidad para recordar a todos sobre las expectativas del código de vestir. No se permiten sandalias flip flop. Las camisas deben tener mangas anchas de dos dedos (sin tirantes de espagueti). Pantalones cortos y faldas deben ser tan largos como los brazos del niño cuando derecho hacia abajo. No hay camisetas sin mangas o camisetas que muestran las zonas del estómago o la espalda. Vamos a llamar a los padres para un cambio de ropa si un estudiante está usando cualquier tipo de ropa inadecuada.

Cambios por los miercoles en el 2016-17

En los últimos dos años hemos tenido pronta liberación de los Miércoles . Estamos muy contentos de compartir que el próximo año vamos a cambiar nuestros miércoles para ser hora de enriquecimiento para todos los estudiantes . Los maestros todavía tendrán tiempo  por la tarde los miércoles para la planificación y la colaboración, pero todos los estudiantes permanecerán hasta las 3:30 los miércoles.

Tendremos socios de la comunidad vienen a trabajar con nuestros estudiantes para la tutoría de lectura, la actividad física, las artes, la ciencia y más. Tendremos asambleas especiales con socios como el Museo Zoológico y Denver de Naturaleza y Ciencia. Esta será una gran oportunidad para dar a los estudiantes tiempo adicional con habilidades que necesitan, así como el tiempo para explorar las cosas que no tenemos tiempo suficiente para.
