Perseverance is KEY         

As we begin our state testing this spring, it is important that we all encourage our students to persevere and try their best!  We have been working all year developing character strengths and we know they will be important during testing times.  The Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) is the assessment used across Colorado to measure how students in 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th grade are progressing.  We need your help to motivate our kids to put forth their best effort and persevere through the lengthy test.  We will have a special pep rally for students on 3/10 in addition to a special party after testing for students who attend every day during testing and do their best throughout.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Conferences between teachers and parents are an important time to check in and learn about your child’s progress.  We know that with your support and involvement, all our students will achieve at high levels.  Spring conferences are beginning and you can expect information from your child’s teacher regarding scheduling.  Teachers will be setting up conferences between 3/6 and 3/17.  Be on the lookout and make sure to attend your child’s conference.J

CMAS Testing

During CMAS testing, it is very important that your children are on time to school, well rested and ready to do their best. 5^th grade students begin the assessment before Spring Break from March 13-24.  3^rd and 4^th grade students will take the assessment after Spring Break in April.  Please help your child feel prepared and ready for testing.  Say things like:  “I believe in you” and  “When you get stuck, remember what you know and persevere” and “You are one smart cookie”.  With your support our students will be amazing!

Student Safety- TRAFFIC

We need your help to improve safety for drop off and pick up!  Please drop off students on the curb side of the street and do not drop students off on the street side.  We have had some close calls when students are dropped off on the other side of the street and cross in the middle.  We would like to use Hooker and Hazel as one-way streets during drop off and pick up.  That means cars would only go south on Hazel (back of the school) and only go north on Hooker (front of the school).  If we can all adjust our driving to treat those streets as one ways, we would have a better traffic flow and it would be much safer for our kids.   Our crossing guards will be at the corners and try to remind drivers to go to either street based on which way they are going.  Help us make Eagleton streets safe for our students and reduce traffic jams. 

Math at Home- and all around

Math is all around us!  Help your children make connections with math in the real world.  Have them help with shopping and cooking.  Measurement and fractions are all around in the kitchen.  Money is important any time we are shopping or planning on buying something.  Make math fun and help your children build a strong math foundation.

Perseverancia es la Clave

Al comenzar nuestra prueba estatal esta primavera, es importante que todos alentemos a nuestros estudiantes a perseverar e intentar su mejor. Hemos estado trabajando todo el año desarrollando fortalezas de carácter y sabemos que serán importantes durante los tiempos de prueba. Las Medidas de Colorado de Éxito Académico (CMAS, por sus siglas en inglés) son la evaluación que se usa en Colorado para medir cómo progresan los estudiantes en 3º, 4º y 5º grado. Necesitamos su ayuda para motivar a nuestros hijos a hacer su mejor esfuerzo y perseverar a través de la larga prueba. Tendremos un rally especial para los estudiantes el 3/10 además de una fiesta especial después de los exámenes para los estudiantes que asisten todos los días durante las pruebas y hacer lo mejor en todo momento.

Conferencias con maestro/as

Las conferencias entre maestros y padres son un momento importante para informarse y aprender sobre el progreso de su hijo. Sabemos que con su apoyo y participación, todos nuestros estudiantes alcanzarán niveles altos. Las conferencias de primavera están comenzando y usted puede esperar información del maestro de su hijo con respecto a la programación. Los profesores estarán organizando conferencias entre 3/6 y el 3/17. Esté atento y asegúrese de asistir a la conferencia de su hijo. J

Examenes de CMAS

Durante las pruebas de CMAS, es muy importante que sus hijos lleguen a tiempo a la escuela, estén bien descansados y listos para hacer lo mejor posible. Los estudiantes de 5to grado comienzan la evaluación antes de las vacaciones de primavera del 13 al 24 de marzo. Los estudiantes de 3er y 4to grado tomarán la evaluación después de las vacaciones de primavera en abril. Por favor ayude a su niño a sentirse preparado y listo para las pruebas. Diga cosas como: "Yo creo en ti" y "Cuando te

quedas atascado, recuerda lo que sabes y perseveras" y "Eres muy inteligente". Con su apoyo nuestros estudiantes serán increíbles.

Seguridad del trafico

¡Necesitamos su ayuda para mejorar la seguridad durante la hora de comienzo de clases y  a la hora de salida! Por favor, deje a los estudiantes en la banqueta y no deje a los estudiantes en la calle. Hemos tenido algunas llamadas cercanas cuando los estudiantes son dejados en el otro lado de la calle y cruzan en el medio. Nos gustaría usar Hooker y Hazel como calles unidireccionales durante la entrada y hora de salida. Eso significa que los coches sólo irían hacia el sur en Hazel (parte de atrás de la escuela) y sólo irían hacia el norte en Hooker (frente a la escuela). Si todos podemos ajustar nuestra conducción para tratar esas calles de esta manera, tendríamos un mejor flujo de tráfico y sería mucho más seguro para nuestros hijos. Nuestros guardias de cruce estarán en las esquinas y tratarán de recordarles a los conductores que vayan a cualquiera de las dos calles en base a qué camino van. Ayúdenos a hacer las calles Eagleton seguras para nuestros estudiantes y reducir los atascos de tráfico.

Matemáticas en la casa

¡Las matemáticas están a nuestro alrededor! Ayude a sus hijos a hacer conexiones con las matemáticas en el mundo real. Pídales que ayuden con las compras y la cocina. La medición y las fracciones están alrededor en la cocina. El dinero es importante cada vez que estamos de compras o planeando comprar algo. Haga las matemáticas divertidas y ayude a sus hijos a construir una sólida base matemática.

A note from school leadership     

With the winter season quickly approaching I want to take a moment to express how thankful I am to lead this incredible school.  We have many challenges ahead of us, but I know that as we work together, we will be able to overcome any challenges we face.  Thank you for your partnership.

The most recent presidential election has brought some uncertainty to many of us. Please know that Eagleton is a safe and welcoming place to all people.  We strive to create an inclusive community.  Despite messages of hate being increasing all around us, we know that love and kindness is stronger than hate.  We are developing

Outside Recess

We have had an incredibly warm fall so far, but colder weather is coming. We want our students to have as much physical activity as possible.   We want to give our students the opportunity to play outside as much as possible.  If the sun is shining and the temperature is above 30, we will let the kids play outside.  If they are dressed properly with a winter coat, hats, gloves and snow boots, they will be allowed to play in the snow.   Otherwise, they will have to either stay on the cleared black top or stay inside. 

 

*Consider walking to school whenever possible, even in the snow.  We can reduce traffic, be more active and help the environment!

Cold Weather Clothing

With the weather getting colder, we want to remind you of our dress code.  School uniforms are required every day in warm weather and cold.  We sell long sleeves and sweatshirts in the office.  We have a limited supply of uniforms on hand, otherwise we order them and receive them quickly.  Students may wear other sweaters, but they must zip or button them so that the school uniform is visible during school.  Of course, students should wear jackets and coats outside whenever it is cold, but inside the school, uniform shirts must be visible.

Ms. Dillabaugh, our Assistant Principal, is having a baby very soon.  She will be out on leave through March with her new baby.  In her absence, please contact the principal- Ms. Rains Thomas or the academic dean- Ms. Curtis if you have any questions, concerns or just want to get involved.

Con la temporada de invierno acercándose rápidamente, quiero tomar un momento para expresar lo agradecido que estoy de dirigir esta increíble escuela. Tenemos muchos retos por delante, pero sé que mientras trabajamos juntos, podremos superar cualquier reto que enfrentamos. Gracias por su colaboración.

Las elecciones presidenciales más recientes han traído cierta incertidumbre a muchos de nosotros. Por favor, sepa que Eagleton es un lugar seguro y acogedor para todas las personas. Nos esforzamos por crear una comunidad inclusiva. A pesar de que los mensajes de odio están aumentando a nuestro alrededor, sabemos que el amor y la amabilidad son más fuertes que el odio. Recreo exterior

Hemos tenido un otoño increíblemente caliente hasta ahora, pero el clima frío está llegando. Queremos que nuestros estudiantes tengan tanta actividad física como sea posible. Queremos dar a nuestros estudiantes la oportunidad de jugar afuera tanto como sea posible. Si el sol está brillando y la temperatura está por encima de 30, vamos a dejar que los niños juegan afuera. Si están vestidos adecuadamente con un abrigo de invierno, sombreros, guantes y botas de nieve, se les permitirá jugar en la nieve. De lo contrario, tendrán que permanecer en la parte superior o permanecer adentro.

 

* Considere caminar a la escuela siempre que sea posible, incluso en la nieve. Podemos reducir el tráfico, ser más activos y ayudar al medio ambiente!

 

ROPA DE CLIMA FRIO

 

Con el clima cada vez más frío, queremos recordarle de nuestros uniformes. Los uniformes escolares son necesarios todos los días, en clima caliente y frío. Vendemos camisetas de mangas largas y suéteres en la oficina. Tenemos un suministro limitado de uniformes a mano, pero usted puede poner un pedido ya que lo recibimos rápidamente. Los estudiantes pueden usar otros suéteres, pero no deben de estar cerrados para que el uniforme escolar sea visible durante la escuela. Por supuesto, los estudiantes deben usar chaquetas y abrigos cuando hace frío, pero dentro de la escuela, las camisas de uniforme deben ser visibles.
