Springtime Dress Code

It is hard to believe it is already April.  We hope you had a restful and fun Spring break with your families.  We are looking forward to a spring full of learning. 

As the weather warms up, please remember that Colorado weather changes frequently.  During the spring, make sure your child comes to school with a sweater and brings it home each night.  We have a lot of sweaters in the lost and found.  Come check it out if your child is missing something. 

I also want to take this opportunity to remind everyone about the dress code expectations.  No flip flop sandals are allowed.  Shirts must have sleeves wider than two fingers (no spaghetti straps).  Shorts and skirts must be as long as the child’s arms when straight down.  No halter tops or tops that show stomach or back areas.  We will call parents for a change of clothes if a student is wearing any type of inappropriate clothing.

Summer School- Not too late!

We sent home over 150 individual invitations to READ/ELA summer school.  We have gotten about 70 back.   Please talk to the office if you need another application or if you didn’t get one the first time around.  The program will run at Eagleton from June 13-July 8 from 7:45-11:45 am, with an option for a full day program.  Let us know if you have any questions.  We hope you take advantage of this opportunity!

Bugs, Books and Art- April 14^th

Come join us for an incredible family night of Bugs, Books and Art!  We will have pizza and fun activities for the whole family.  Bring the family for fun with bugs!

Shirt Uniforms for 2016-17

We are considering adopting Eagleton shirt uniforms for next year.  We are looking at options for multiple colors of shirts with our Eagleton logo.  Shirt options would be priced between $6.00-$10.00.  Package deals and early orders would be available.  All Eagleton shirts and sweatshirts from past years would be allowed also.  We have met with several groups of staff, students and parents and everyone we have talked to wants to adopt uniform shirts next year.  Let us know by April 14^th if you have any feedback about this change.  

Wednesday Changes for 2016-17

For the past couple years we have had early release on Wednesdays.  We are excited to share that next year we will be changing our Wednesdays to be enrichment time for all students.  Teachers will still have time on Wednesday afternoons for planning and collaboration, but all students will stay until 3:30 on Wednesdays. 

We will have community partners come in to work with our students for reading tutoring, physical activity, arts, science and more.  We will have special assemblies with partners like the Zoo and Denver Museum of Nature and Science.  This will be a great opportunity to give students extra time with skills they need as well as time to explore things we don’t have enough time for.  Let us know if you have ideas for fun Wednesday activities or are interested in helping out.  We want our Wednesday afternoons to be an opportunity to really involve the school community as partners in education.

Código de Vestir de Primavera

Es difícil de creer que ya es abril. Esperamos que hayan tenido un descanso y la diversión de primavera con sus familias. Estamos mirando adelante a una primavera llena de aprendizaje.

A medida que el clima se calienta, por favor recuerde que Colorado clima cambia con frecuencia . Durante la primavera, asegúrese de que su hijo llega a la escuela con un suéter y se lo lleva a casa cada noche. Tenemos una gran cantidad de suéteres en el perdido y encontrado. Ven echa un vistazo si su hijo le falta algo.

También quiero aprovechar esta oportunidad para recordar a todos sobre las expectativas del código de vestir. No se permiten sandalias flip flop. Las camisas deben tener mangas anchas de dos dedos (sin tirantes de espagueti). Pantalones cortos y faldas deben ser tan largos como los brazos del niño cuando derecho hacia abajo. Vamos a llamar a los padres para un cambio de ropa si un estudiante está usando cualquier tipo de ropa inadecuada.

Escuela de verano- NO ES TAN TARDE

Hemos enviado a casa a más de 150 invitaciones individuales para la escuela de verano LEA / ELA . Hemos conseguido sobre 70 para atrás. Insectos, Libros y Arte- 4/14

Uniformes de camisa por el 2016-17

Estamos considerando que adopten uniformes camisa Eagleton para el próximo año . Estamos estudiando opciones para múltiples colores de camisas con nuestro logotipo Eagleton. Cambios por los miercoles en el 2016-17

En los últimos dos años hemos tenido pronta liberación de los Miércoles . Estamos muy contentos de compartir que el próximo año vamos a cambiar nuestros miércoles para ser hora de enriquecimiento para todos los estudiantes . Los maestros todavía tendrán tiempo  por la tarde los miércoles para la planificación y la colaboración, pero todos los estudiantes permanecerán hasta las 3:30 los miércoles.

Tendremos socios de la comunidad vienen a trabajar con nuestros estudiantes para la tutoría de lectura, la actividad física, las artes, la ciencia y más. Tendremos asambleas especiales con socios como el Museo Zoológico y Denver de Naturaleza y Ciencia. Esta será una gran oportunidad para dar a los estudiantes tiempo adicional con habilidades que necesitan, así como el tiempo para explorar las cosas que no tenemos tiempo suficiente para. Háganos saber si usted tiene ideas para actividades divertidas miércoles o está interesado en ayudar. Upcoming CMAS Testing

Our 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th graders are gearing up to take the Colorado state assessment (CMAS).  We have been working hard to make sure our students are ready and prepared for the assessment.  We begin with the testing late March and extend into early April.  The CMAS test is a computer based assessment that assess students on the Common Core State Standards.  We have been practicing taking tests online and see our students making great progress.  The CMAS test is very important for our school, as it informs our overall school rating and is used to compare schools.  Please talk to your children about the test and help them understand the importance of doing their best.

Summer School Sign Up

We sent home over 150 individual invitations to READ/ELA summer school.  We have gotten about 15 back.  We need many more students to sign up for this incredible opportunity.  Please talk to the office if you need another application or if you didn't get one the first time around.  The program will run from June 13-July 8 from 8:00-12:00 right here at Eagleton.  This program has had great success in past years and it has helped students advance their skills and come in ready for the next grade.  We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity for continued learning.  

Garden Work Days- Join Us!

We have partnered with several community organizations this year to get our garden ready for a spectacular growing year.  We are working with the Villa Park Neighborhood Association, Jovial Concepts, Mile High Rotary and WIC.  We need your help too!  Come join us for upcoming work days in the garden this spring- Saturday, March 5^th and Saturday March 12^th.  We will have many more opportunities to get involved with the garden in April and May.  We hope you can join the community in the garden!  

Bikers Against Bullies

We had a very special event last week for our 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th graders.  We had about 15 motorcycles drive onto the blacktop and deliver a powerful anti-bully message.  Students got to see the bikes up close and take pictures with the bikers.  It was really fun and important for students to hear the message- "Stand up, Be heard".   We are continuously working to ensure that our students feel like they are a part of the Eagleton community and that they have the skills to stand up for themselves and each other when they see bullying.  

Traffic Safety

 Please do not drop your children off on the left side of the street.  Drive around the school so that you can drop your child off on the right side of the street so they do not have to cross in the middle of the street.   Plan ahead and arrive between 7:45 and 8:00 to miss the traffic jams around the school right at 8:00.  The city has been out giving tickets for double parking, parking in loading/bus zones and not obeying stop signs.  It is a win-win if we can adjust our behaviors to make drop off and pick up safer- no tickets and our kids are safe.  Consider walking/riding bikes to school as the weather gets nicer.

Traffic Safety Concerns 

Please make sure to travel safely around the school at all times in the day.  We have had some significant safety issues come up with drop off and pick up: double parking, blocking the street, drivers disobeying the crossing guards, and drivers speeding through the streets while children are crossing.  The Denver Police have issued 4 traffic citations and dealt with 2 traffic accidents.  Thankfully no one has been hurt.  We need to change this before someone does get hurt.

Please remember to be courteous to each other and refrain from inappropriate language.  Our students learn from the behavior they see and we want them to learn to solve problems in a positive way. 

The safety of our students is our first priority and we need your help to make student drop off and pick up more safe for our whole community.

Family Night- 2/9

We are so excited to offer a fun filled family night at Eagleton, next Tuesday, 2/9 at 5:30pm.  We will have a professional theatre group here running interactive events focused on family literacy.  We will have pizza for everyone and prizes to give away.  It is going be a great family event.  We hope you can join us!   

Summer School Planning

We are going to have a big summer school session this year at Eagleton. The summer session will be from June 13 through July 8.  Parent meeting on February 18^th to learn about the program and the incredible results from past years. We want our students to be prepared for the next grade and this summer program will help us reach that goal. 

Parenting Parnters- Join us!

We are all partners in the parenting process. We are excited to be able to provide an opportunity to learn from one another throughout a series of Parenting Partners classes.  Eagleton teachers and staff are  hosting this wonderful opportunity. We have refreshments and childcare, and two sessions to accommodate our Spanish-speaking and English-speaking parents. We have had our first 2 sessions with great success.  It's not too late to come join us for this incredible and supportive parent class.     

 Winter coats, gloves and hats!

 We have lots of winter gear for kids!  If your child doesn't have a warm winter coat, gloves or a hat, please let us know.  We received a large donation and want to get these items to the kids who need them right away.  Come to the office and see Mr. Emilio or Ms. Candace to request the winter gear.  We want to make sure all of our students have proper Winter gear for the changing Colorado weather.

La seguridad del trafico

Por favor asegúrese de viajar con seguridad alrededor de la escuela en todo momento en el día. Hemos tenido algunos problemas de seguridad importantes vienen con dejar y recoger: estacionamiento en doble fila, bloqueando la calle, los conductores desobedecer los guardias de cruce, y los conductores a toda velocidad por las calles, mientras los niños están cruzando. La Policía de Denver han emitido 4 infracciones de tráfico y se ocupó de 2 accidentes de tráfico. Afortunadamente nadie ha sido herido. Tenemos que cambiar esto antes de que alguien se lastime. 

Por favor, recuerde que debe ser cortés con los demás y abstenerse de lenguaje inapropiado . Nuestros estudiantes aprenden de la conducta que ven y que quieren que aprendan a resolver los problemas de una manera positiva. 

La seguridad de nuestros estudiantes es nuestra primera prioridad y necesitamos su ayuda para que los estudiantes dejar y recoger más seguro para toda nuestra comunidad.

Noche de familia- 2/9

Estamos muy contentos de ofrecer una noche familiar llena de diversión en Eagleton , el próximo martes , 2/9 a las 5:30 pm. Tendremos un grupo de teatro profesional de aquí corriendo eventos interactivos enfocados en educación familiar. Tendremos pizza para todos y premios para regalar. Va ser un gran evento familiar.  ¡Esperamos que pueda unirse a nosotros!

Planes para escuela de verano

Vamos a tener una gran sesión de clases de verano este año en Eagleton. La sesión de verano será del 13 de junio a julio de reunión 8. Padres el 18 de febrero de aprender sobre el programa y los increíbles resultados de los últimos años. Queremos que nuestros estudiantes estén preparados para el siguiente grado y este programa de verano nos ayudarán a alcanzar ese objetivo.

Tenemos un montón de ropa de invierno para los niños! Si su hijo no tiene un abrigo de invierno cálido, guantes o un sombrero , por favor háganoslo saber . Hemos recibido una gran donación y queremos obtener estos elementos a los niños que los necesitan de forma inmediata. Notes from the Principal

Welcome back! We hope you had a restful and fun winter break with your family.  It is always nice to have a little break, even though we miss being at school.☺  

We are looking forward to a busy 2016 full of learning and joy.  As we return with students we are taking time to review our character strengths- Respect, Optimism, Perseverance, Joy, Gratitude and Integrity.  We have been working on creating an incredible place to learn for our students.  DPS has a vision for every classroom that it is rigorous, personalized and joyful.  Our classrooms reflect these important characteristics.  

We welcome your ideas and encourage your involvement at Eagleton.  Together, we make this school great!

Upcoming Parent Meeting- 1/12

Since we had an unexpected snow day in December, we have rescheduled our parent meeting for Tuesday, January 12^th at 3:45.   We will review our performance on the new state assessment (CMAS) as well as discuss our programs. We hope you can join us for this informative meeting. 

READ, READ, READ

Make sure to take time to read every day!  Research says that families who read every day have kids who read better and enjoy reading more.  There is a lot of technology and if kids could, they would choose technology every time.  Make sure your have set up a routine that includes reading time every day.  Students benefit from hearing books and reading books! 

Parenting Parnters- Begins 1/21

We are all partners in the parenting process. We are excited to be able to provide an opportunity to learn from one another throughout a series of Parenting Partners classes.  Eagleton teachers and staff will be hosting this wonderful opportunity very soon. We will have refreshments and childcare, and two sessions to accommodate our Spanish-speaking and English-speaking parents. The session will begin January 21^st.  Take a look at the separate flyer for more details.   

 School Choice Time!

School choice time is upon us for the 2016-17 school year.  If Eagleton is your neighborhood school, based on your address, you do not need to do anything for school choice.  If you are enrolling an ECE or Kindergarten student for next year you MUST submit a School Choice form. Also, students currently K-5 that have choiced in to Eagleton this year and have moved or have administratively transferred MUST submit a School Choice form.  Forms are available in the main office and at schoolchoice.dpsk12.org.  Thank you for choosing Eagleton!  We are glad to you're your children here with us.  

*Remember that we have 4 star rated ECE programs for 3 and 4 year olds.  Please let your neighbors know and help our neighborhood kids get a great start in school.

¡Bienvenidos de nuevo! Esperamos que hayan tenido un descanso de invierno tranquilo y divertido con su familia. Siempre es bueno tener un poco de descanso, aunque echamos de menos estar en la escuela.☺ 

Estamos mirando adelante a un 2016 lleno de aprendizaje y alegría. Al regresar con los estudiantes estamos tomando tiempo para revisar nuestros fortalezas de carácter- Respeto, Optimismo, Perseverancia, Alegría, Gratitud y la Integridad. Hemos estado trabajando en la creación de un lugar increíble para aprender de nuestros estudiantes. DPS tiene una visión para cada salón de clases que es riguroso, personalizado y alegre. Nuestras aulas reflejan estas características importantes.

Junta para padres- pronto- 1/12

Ya que teníamos un día de nieve inesperada en diciembre, hemos reprogramado nuestro reunión de padres para el martes, 12 de enero a las 3:45. Vamos a revisar nuestro desempeño en la nueva evaluación estatal (CMAS ), así como discutir nuestros programas.  Esperamos que puedan acompañarnos en esta reunión informativa.

Leer, Leer, Leer

¡Asegúrese de tomar tiempo para leer todos los días! Investigación dice que las familias que leen todos los días tienen los niños que leen mejor y disfrutan de la lectura más. Hay una gran cantidad de tecnología y si los niños pudieran, elegiría la tecnología cada vez. Asegúrese de que se han establecido una rutina que incluye el tiempo de leer todos los días. ¡Los estudiantes se benefician de los libros de la audición y la lectura de libros!

¡Tiempo de elegir escuelas!

Tiempo de la elección de escuela está sobre nosotros para el año escolar 2016-17. Si Eagleton es escuela de su vecindario , basado en su dirección, usted no tiene que hacer nada para la elección de escuela. Si se inscribe un estudiante de la Pre-escolar o Kindergarten para el próximo año usted debe presentar un formulario de Opción de Escuela. Además, los estudiantes actualmente K - 5 que han elegido a Eagleton este año y se han trasladado o han transferido administrativamente debe presentar un Formulario de Opción de Escuela.
